Been thinking more about life after death scenario. Here\'s my account of my first awareness -
50 years ago I was sitting in a simulated high-altitude chamber with ten fellow wannabe pilots, ready to experience various altitudes with and without oxygen. We were 'taken' to 20,000 ft and removed our oxygen masks. It was four minutes before I felt too loopy to go on and reattached my mask. At 35,000 ft unconsciousness occurs within 30 seconds without oxygen. Our instructor asked for a volunteer and selected me. He gave me a peg-board with square and round pegs scrambled. I had to put them in order after a seat mate disconnected my oxygen. I felt no different, no gasping or panic; it was a very normal feeling but my brain was not getting any oxygen. I had the board on my knees and began sorting the pegs in order. I noticed the board bouncing and wondered what was causing it. My next awareness was lying on the cabin floor looking up at my seat mate, who had reconnected my oxygen. I had been unconscious 20 seconds, long enough to have crashed if flying a plane. That's when it struck me that I had been as good as dead and never felt a thing.
Incidentally, there is a limit to how high you can go before blood begins to boil without pressurization. The limit is 62,000 ft, the Armstrong Line. We didn't go there.

I have to agree with Bob here. He makes interesting points. Brain is the best 3D software there is, and even though it might seem real to you, and even be life changing, it does not mean it really happened. That's why we have scientific method to rule out the imaginary. Schizophrenics for examples hear voices and see thongs that are real to them. There are million things that could affect the way your brain produces senses, images and sounds, and all of them could be wrong.

If it can't move a needle it's all in your mind, including ghosts, angels, demons and hants. I identify with Mark Twain's comment on being dead. Been there, done that and I'll do it again. Dying is goin' home; dead is being there.
Commenting on doing drugs to gain insight into an afterlife, I've never tried Nightshade or the other naturals except Peyote and 'shrooms. LSD is more mind expanding than I'm comfortable with, but it can depend on the company you keep. Cary Grant, for example, dropped acid (pure and manufactured by experts) with Dr. Leary's groups many times and claimed to never have had adverse reaction. I might try it again under those conditions but not anytime soon.
Conscious life after death is for the pharaohs and others who can not believe this life is all there is; there ain't no more!
And some day I hope to discuss God and gods and other wild dreams in this thread.

I was never convinced of life after death until an incident that happened to my wife and myself back in 1986 I was in bed reading when something caught my eye it appeared to be coming out of the floor like black smoke and took the shape of a person my wife also saw this manifestation and started to scream it floated across the room and before our eyes my mother who had been dead for 5 years materalised she looked absolutely fantastic considering she had died of motor neuron disease I must emphasise that I am not religous or ever been influenced by cults or sects this event took place and I can understand people being sceptical but I can assure you this was a life changing experience

The only evidence I can provide would be in the form of anecdotes, i.e. personal experience.

Everyone has "rules" or "beliefs they live by. Each belief takes faith.
Even atheism has to be based on the faith that God doesn't exist.
Science will never be able to prove anything spiritual to anyone because spirituality is not physical or material.

Simply, the evidence you're searching for is unattainable without faith, or belief in verification without the use of science.

I could tell you of the times I've had face to face communication with non-earthly entities, but it wouldn't do any good.
I don't expect anyone to blindly believe me, just keep searching and maybe someday you'll have an experience(s) that will convince you as well.

As for me, I wouldn't believe in any evidence without proof that the evidence was valid.
It's a catch 22.
                                              Cheers!

You're talking about these things like you're certain, but you cannot provide any credible evidence for it. It all comes down to belief. Which is believing in something with no evidence and that's something i don't do. Sorry.
To convince me, or at least get me interested, you're gonna need to provide at least some evidence. Not a proof, but some evidence. without it, I don't buy anything.

I don't believe in ghost's, only angelic and demonic activity.
When you die, you're in a state of non-being that is timeless.
There is an afterlife, but the fact is we all arrive there at the same moment.
Everyone who has ever been born and dies, (all of us), arrive at the same instant.
So the afterlife won't exist, "until" we all die, and awake at the same instant.
Until then, time will continue to pass slowly for those missing deceased loved one's as if they've been gone a long, long time, when actually the dead see it as only being gone an instant until awakening, much like receiving an anethstesia before surgery.
Once you lose consciousness after an anethstesia, it seems you awake an instant later in recovery, while in reality it may have been many hours.

The only entities that exist outside our plane of physical existance, throughout the time of our birth, death, non-being, and awakening, are either angelic or demonic......no ghosts.

"Only you can discern what feels right to you based on your own research and experience."

That's the whole problem. Even is something seems so real to YOU it does not mean it's real. Your brain is best 3D software imaginable. Brain could deceive, eyes could deceive you. That's why you need controlled experiment and scientific method to determine what's real and what is not. You need independent tests showing same results under controlled conditions. There is no way for individual to determine what's real and what is not. For example: schizophrenics hear voices and see things that seems so real TO THEM, but it does not make it real. People on drugs are experiencing similar things. There's simply no other way we know but the scientific method to show what's real. Everything else is speculation and it could be real dangerous. Just look at all schizophrenics-maniac serial killers. They did hear voices and saw things that were so real to them.
The only way to convince me to what you saying is to do controlled independent scientific experiment multiple times, and experiment has to show same results each time.
Just reading things will not convince me and should not convince you either. Especially reading on internet. Sorry.

Have a look at this website to learn more about stages of sleep:

http://www.dreamviews.com/sleepstages.php

With that said, it proves that 'something' does happen during sleep. Now that the body changes its frequency just like how a radio works. If you tune in to another channel or frequency, the previous radio station does not cease to exists, instead its on a different frequency and all you have to do is turn the dial to tune in back to the old radio station.

Futhermore not much can be explained because its an area that can only be understood by the individual itself. Most i can suggest is research astral projection:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astral_projection

Some say its 'all in the mind' and nothing but a figment of your imagination. Only you can discern what feels right to you based on your own research and experience.
