Richard Dawkins - Genius of our times
It is really a shame that we don’t get programing like this here in States. Even though you might disagree with Mr. Dawkins , there is no denying his genius.
This video is around 27 minutes and well worth your time.
I just picked up his new book called “The God Delusion” and what I see so far is that he is not just a great speaker and very sharp man but a good writer too.
His arguments and evidence presented are so compelling and intelligent that literary it might change the way you look at the things in this world from now on.
For those of you who like good intelligent debate enjoy, and for those who are just bitter, fanatic, naive and plain stupid BITE ME!!!

Religion gets people to do good things for bad reasons, when good reasons are actually available. Religion should be marginalized the same way mythology and astrology are. It shouldn’t be taken seriously without proof and it’s killing people (sectarian violence). If there is a god, he is either impotent or evil.

Religion also gets people do do bad things for bad reasons.
I am open minded and everything (really am) but I just cannot understand how semi intelligent person can based all of his life on one book which no one can prove who wrote it, which was changed so many times, where gospels are taken and added at will, where no can verify characters in the book if they were real and let alone if they were capable of doing what Bible said they did.
To me it goes like this:
God knows everything what happened, is happening and will happen. He created us and He knew how we going to turn out, where we’re heading and nothing can happen without Him knowing it, and then He says that that the only way to heaven is through Him. Otherwise go to hell. Think about it. He already knows what you’re going to do since he created you and knows where you’re going and how you;re going to end up and then He blames YOU.
Then he showed himself to us (as Jesus) and said that we have free will. Let me ask you something. If you just saw God, would you be still be able NOT to believe? I wouldn’t. Not much of the choice or free will there.

This is from the Richard Dawkings “The God Delusion” book:
“Why is God considered an explanation for anything? It’s not
- it’s a failure to explain, a shrug of the shoulders, an ‘I
dunno’ dressed up in spirituality and ritual. If someone credits
something to God, generally what it means is that they
haven’t a clue, so they’re attributing it to an unreachable,
unknowable sky-fairy. Ask for an explanation of where
that bloke came from, and odds are you’ll get a vague,
pseudo-philosophical reply about having always existed, or
being outside nature. Which, of course, explains nothing”
Very well said.
