Ah...

Milosevic,a bad guy indeed, killed many, tortured many, made hs soldiers kill and torture many too...But,he definitely can't be in hell,he's not deserving of such honour!.

All sort of rumours spread out after his death, things like,he was poisoned, things like he had heart problems and was taking a medication, but used another medication to suppress the first medication thus killing himself by heart-attack...

No one knows if any of it is really true, but he deserved to die horribly,or at least die somehow.

Nationalism is a bad enemy for ( for example ) The United Nations...Things just don't work right when there can be no debate... The "I am right and you are wrong" joke just doesn't hold anymore.

Civilization...To use this word in our world is to be ignorant of it's basic meaning...But humans tend to think themselves superior to other simple animals, why?,because humans spend more time thinking and less time doing? (exclude Bush and a few others from this lol)...

And now,to a simple matter,if a car thief steals your car,is finally arrested, ends up in jail, and finally dies in jail....Is it unfair?...NO!,it is his fault,he did the bad thing, got caught, locked for it,and died for it... It was a possibility...He may not have imagined it,but sh*t happens...Now,lets see the other side, you woke up,went to work, had a coffee just before entering your office, you looked at your car through the window and thought,d*mn!,my Ferrari Daytona is a beauty, you saw this guy walk up,admire it,smash a brick through the side window, rip the door open, and before you managed to realize what was happening, you saw your car vanish...(This can happen),one has to live before one expresses a serious opinion, and,I have never had a Daytona (I wish I had one lol)...But here again is freedom of speech and thought, one doesn't need to have a Daytona in order to understand how it's owner would feel if it were to be stolen.

And that is quite a simple fact really lol.

Regards,
Colin Towel.

The people that I've read about celebrating Hugo Chavez - mostly American celebrities - seem to feel that the answers to societies problems are solveable by governments and you're right, that has a nationalist tinge.
Interesting point about the civil rights movement but I would argue that while it was publicly led by religious figures, it was advanced by lawyers and judges.

I hate Milosevic and his followers too, but I don't think you guys are being completely honest with yourselves when you say you want to do away with religion and nationalism (political religion).

As has been mentioned on this board before, the Civil Rights movement was largely predicated on an Evangelical message of deliverance, redemption, and salvation. Most people would argue that it was a very positive thing, and its very doubtful it could have been mobilized without the network of black churches: the religious community.

As far as nationalism goes, most people on the Left say they hate nationalism, point out that its nothing but a construct, that nations are imagined, ect... Then they go off to celebrate a guy like Hugo Chavez, whose Leftism has a very nationalist tinge. I'm not saying Chavez is good or evil, but he is definatley a nationalist.

So really when people say they are against religion or nationalism, they are against particular manifestations of religion and nationalism.

You grabbed me with the next to last sentence.

Nationalism (especially coupled with religion) is at the root of most of the violence on this planet. Borders need to be erased, not fortified as the conservative (read as almost everyone) politicians and pundits call for in the U.S.

It was the decision of the Socialist Party, who is a coalition partner in the new government. So the government I guess didnt want to say anything because they are afraid of the socialists pulling out and causing the collapse of the government.

If Serbian heads of state despise Milosevic that much , then on who's idea was to put him besides Tito anyway?
Or maybe they put him next to Tito so Tito can keep an eye on him just like he did 30 years ago.
