Our politicians are useless!
Our politicians, on both sides of the aisle, are truly useless. One issue both Republicans and Democrats agree on and stand up to BUsh on turns out not to be an issue at all! I am talking about the port deal uproar.
As most of you know (and those who have not followed this issue, you are much better off for it) the whole political uproar erupted when the Bush administration disclosed they sold some 6 ports to a Dubai company owned by the United Arab Emirates. Democrats and Republicans both jumped and said: “Oh we can’t have THEM runnig our ports!” I must say I agree with Bush on this one who said that UAE are our staunch, if only, ally in the region and most of our ports are owned by foreign companies anyway. So, telling the world that an Arab owned company, with impeccable credentials, cannot run our ports is blatant racism. It is blatantly anti-Arabic and anti-free market. This deal was made into an issue by bunch of creativity starved politicians who really do not have guts to take any reasonable stand on any issue that really matters. But this issue, they know (or they hope) will rile up the American people because they can be seen as being strong on national security! Urgh! Ridiculous. And for the Democrats to be leading this uproar is shameful! Get a fucking manifesto, list your principles, adn stick to them. And guess what: you might win a few seats then! I am done…..

Exactly. This decision makes ZERO contribution to our security… Why? Because less 5% of the material that comes into our ports isn’t checked… By anybody! Irregardless of whether they speak Arabic or English.
There isn’t any prove UAE company can’t do the job. The only legit argument is to say that the port deal should of never been privatized in the first place. But thats a different issue.

I understand the race issue.
But understand this counter. Our enemies in the War on Terror are largely Muslim. The UAE may be our allies, but if they were to do this, I imagine it would be very much easier for a Muslim Terrorist to infiltrate the UAE then it would be to infiltrate our current port security.
That is racist. But it is also protecting us from a very real potential threat.
