Are Terrorist Winning?

crankyface.jpg Just watching and reading about Bush’s campaign trying to promote eavesdropping on American public.

This is a quote from the man himself:

“I wake up every morning thinking about a future attack, and therefore, a lot of my thinking, and a lot of the decisions I make are based upon the attack that hurt us.”
First question: He thinks?
Second: What a hell is that mean?
Personally I have nothing against eavesdropping. Simply because I have nothing to hide and I don’t plan to blow up anything, but from moral standpoint any sane human being would reject the idea. If some NSA agent wants to listen dirty conversations between my wife and me, let him. Maybe he’ll learn something.

What makes me mad is NOT that Bush’s administration is promoting something like this (I am actually surprised he didn’t try to pass it sooner), but that American public thinks eavesdropping is something new and that government is just now trying to implement it.

Every step that this administration takes toward protecting this country and keep it more “secure” is playing directly in the hands of terrorist organizations, because each step takes away little bit of freedom and liberty we have left. Did they ever ask themselves that maybe terrorists want exactly that. For us to live under fear, constantly being watched, having silly color schemes on Fox news tell us about terrorist precipitation today.
They say that we are trying to bring democracy to Middle East. I think it’s the other way around. Middle East is bringing their way of living here. Hell, It is already here!
Patriot Act, eavesdropping, etc. Whats next? Throwing rocks at women in the middle of the streets and public execution? If administration keeps up tempo like this and American public keeps supporting it, then I think we are on the verge of major constitution change, and it’s a matter of time until you see females dressed up to their necks, makeup less, and wearing veils. It is almost already like that on TV. It is just instead of veils they use those annoying blurs that looks like someone puked on your TV screen.
Thank God that there are still some sane people left in congress. These types of things make me want to support far left and live in a dream world.
So my question to you is: Are terrorist winning?

I agree with moody. This administration has shown a blatant disregard for the law they are supposed to be implementing. The thing is they have absolutely NO legal argument for this eavesdropping. They had a legal channel to do it fast, effectively, and legally: FISA courts. These courts were established in 1978 (i think thats the year) in order to set up a channel through which the government can ask for a special secret court to give them a warrant on a very short term notice. In fact, they are legally authorized to eavesdrop and then try to obtain warrant 72 hrs after they start lisetning in on a conversation. This institutional check was built in to prevent the abuses of the government that Nixon administration engaged in: let’s rememebr taht Nixon listened in on his political opponents and composed his “enemy lists” on the basis of these conversations. This is why a democratic system does not trust any administration because they are humans and as such they are corruptible by power.

But no, Bush said that FISA is outdated without ever even trying to come up with an argument as to why this is. And this is not a partisan issue: far from it. Republicans as far right as Chuck Hagel and centre republicans like McCain and Arlen Specter have even stated that a criminal persecution is possible given that the administrations has violated federal law. So, childish execuses that: terrorists are gonna get stronger if we force this administration to obey the law, are just that–childish and plain stupid! STUPID! They have no legal, moral, or rational justification. None! They can still protect our country and obey the law which is why we are protecting this democratic country in the first place!

We really need to face the facts here…. The Bill of Rigths is Dead …. The constitution has no meaning , other than symbolic… There is no left wing, or Right wing… conservative or Liberal…. This is all just a show to keep us pre-occupied arguing with ourselves, and scratching our heads wondering -”

This sure doesnt sound like the elementary school Government class education on the USA

My feelings on the bill of rights, particularly on the 4th amendment can be seen here: http://www.killingart.com/4th.html

The govt is owned by corporations and the courts and police do the dirty work.

    Good article asylum.
    Corporations ARE goverment.

Watch subject. Bush and the Republicans were not protecting us on 9-11, and we aren’t a lot safer now. We may be more afraid due to george bush, but are we safer? Being fearful does not necessarily make one safer. Fear can cause people to hide and cower. What do you think? How does that work in a democracy again? How does being more threatening make us more likeable?Isn’t
the country with the most weapons the biggest threat to the rest of the world? When one country is the biggest threat to the rest of the world, isn’t that likely to be the most hated country?
If ever there was ever a time in our nation’s history that called for a change, this is it!
We have lost friends and influenced no one. No wonder most of the world thinks we suck. Thanks to what george bush has done to our country during the past three years, we do!

  8. moody Says:

Fact: No other nations (no matter how brutal and “crazy” their dictator has been) used nuclear weapons on any nation except Untied States on Japan 1945.

Fear is the best method for control. Just look at the religion. You will do anything to stay away from hell. You will fly planes into the buildings, blow yourself up, make people believe weird things (like WMD’s) just so you can be in heaven and avoid burning in hell.
Any rational human being will see through that.
Following is the best quote i have heard in a while:
Good people do good things, bad people do bad things, but only religion can make a good people to do bad things.
